I have been obsessing over making my spaces prettier and more functional since I was a kid. One of my earliest memories is of my parents taking me to pick out my bedroom furniture. I painstakingly selected a white French provincial set with a canopy bed and bureau with built in shelves. I loved the little clusters of flowers painted on the headboard and dresser drawers. It took months (and a couple dozen inquiring phone calls from my mom) to arrive, but if was worth the wait.
As I got a little older, I decided to redecorate to reflect my new more grown up self. I saved my babysitting money until I had enough for some sophisticated changes. Out went the red shag carpet, in came the faux Persian rug in shades of blue. I hung Chinese fans on the walls, placed little fake Ming vases on the shelves and new pillows updated my existing white bedding. I proudly unveiled my new space to my best friend Lisa, who promptly went home and dragged her mom over to see my fabulous new room. Decorating success. I was hooked.
Although my Bachelors degree is in Marketing and Management and I enjoyed working in corporate America for many years, the desire to pursue my dream of making beautiful spaces achievable and affordable became overwhelming.
After researching the premier training organizations in the industry, I earned a Staging and Redesign Professional certification (SDP) from Carol Bass, co-founder of One Day Decorating and my Color consulting training from JoAnne Lenart-Weary of The Decorating & Staging Academy. Additionally, I earned Accredited Staging Professional (ASP) certification in the home staging for real estate sale program by Barb Schwarz, founder of Staged Homes.
Swiping the name, Done in a Day, from an old Junior League of Cleveland, Inc. project that involved conducting a needs assessment and then developing a program that would make a significant impact on the lives of those involved in just one day, an idea was born. I set about creating a company that would work with the homeowner to assess their needs and offer the most affordable solutions for the greatest impact.
I've loved decorating my own spaces and those of friends over the years because of the impact a beautiful, comfortable and functional space has on our guests and, especially, on us. Coming home to a space you love filled with the things you love is an achievable goal and one I want to help you to realize.
